[ i want you to know i initially laughed at his name being todomatsu when i first saw him specifically because he was the most like toudou... the image-obsessed one with the skincare routine...
Seriously. I knew there were going to be references to things that happened before, but...
[ shakes his head ]
I get why we got the honor of going first, since I'm not sure how many other first-week killers we even have here, but why'd they bring your thing into it? Was there a connection somewhere?
I don't think so. Not more than being here so that my game could be part of the pool of things to recreate. It's my theory we'll see other game's methods soon.
[ just like old times, todomatsu is here by the big pyre at the center of the village, where the profile posters are posted up on a notice board and books are still collected on the shelves that got dragged out here from the academy library.
being back here feels weirder than he'd expected, actually. after a year of being home and mostly settling back into his old ways, he's suddenly remembering all the shit that happened here in much more detail and being confronted with his own past character development that had largely washed away with time.
but he shakes himself out of it and looks over with a smile. ]
Well... Here it is, the infamous village with the stupid name.
Interested in seeing anything in particular? This right here was where we held trials, actually.
Notable... I'm honestly not sure? The way it worked here, we'd get access to a new place only for that week, and then it was gone again. The village here was the only thing that stayed all game, so I think it'd have to be from it if they wanted something that represented the game well.
I guess maybe the church, since that's where the leech bible was...? Or the haunted house since Kate-chan and I both lived there?
[ ignore the fact that his nameplate is on the theater and not the house. ]
Actually, maybe that big blood tree in one of the temporary areas is memorable enough, even though it wasn't there for long.
It sounds like that's the case with most of them. Pretty sure we're more of an outlier.
[ they really got an impressive number of raw deals with this place. ]
And yeah, that thing. Actually, didn't someone cook it in a soup at one point...?
[ shakes his head. ]
Anyway, uh. Elaborate, yes; explain, no.
It's this big glowing tree in a clearing that had a halo and some kind of creepy carved figure or something in the trunk, and it had a spigot stuck in it that you could use to drain some kind of gold and red blood from it. And if you drank it — because of course people tried — it would give you a random unpredictable curse effect.
On Thursday someone beat the thing up and took the figure away, and it got really mad and somehow teleported us to all these random different locations that night instead of where we'd planned on.
It sounds like it was a magical and sentient tree and you all suffered consequences for one or two people's actions. It doesn't sound easy to replicate... Hopefully the auditors don't take inspiration from it, but it does sound very memorable.
Hmm... We already exchange communication with the other side, and it's not like they said the dead won't return, so I've accepted what it is for what it is.
week 0, sunday
How was that for you, Todomatsu?
[ how was having to go through yet another murder weekend ]

Much of the same. I would have been happier not having to experience that again.

[ that's more of an idle question than a serious inquiry. ]
Why don't you take me to some place you think the auditors would think is notable? Even if it is stupid.

The bible that Essek had on him? [ at least if he isn't taking her to the theater, she won't see the discrepancy. ]
Big blood tree? Could you elaborate?

...You know, if you'd mentioned the phone case thing to everyone, you probably could have gotten most of them to vote for me instead of you.

Did you want that, Todomatsu? Do you want to live, or do you want to escape this game?

They can do whole open fields and forests but can't get actual cats for a cat cafe?
[ not that he's going to complain that much; he probably doesn't have to worry about these shedding on his clothes. ]

One of my brothers is obsessed with cats, and I'm not sure if he'd find this offensive or if he'd love not having to worry about disappointing them.

[ how funny would that be? if only. ]
