Sadly so. I don't necessarily disagree with such a punishment, as a knight that has blood on her hands from those I have doled justice to for truly heinous crimes. But... 'tis the spectacle of it. [ she shakes her head, though. ]
Here, 'tis that and more. The spectacle, the cruelty, the uninvolved being forced to partake. The fact that, at least in Boothill's case, he was not in his right mind for either crime or punishment.
